Guest guest
The Endocrine Society Guidelines recommend ACTH and I think Prof Gordon was part of that report. Are they using spiro + other drugs? Only 50 is not enough in many here in the US. Do they also recommend the DASH? If it is not in our files you can get a copy by googling it I think. Guest guest
I have uploaded the Endocrine Society's guidelines for PA. The list will get a notice. Authors include Stowasser M (Australia) and Young WF Jr (Mayo Clinic). Here is a response that takes exception to some of the guidelines: http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/eletters/93/9/3266 Val From: hyperaldosteronism [mailto:hyperaldosteronism ] On Behalf Of Carol Christie I wonder if there is some generally accepted protocol. The other big variable seems to be related to spiro dosage. At Greenslopes Hypertension Unit (Brisbane) (Profs Gordon and Stowasser) there seems to be a reluctance to prescribe much over 50mg a day. Guest guest
Atacand is usually useless in PA as there is no renin (AII) to block. Zanidip CCB makes feet swell. Not available in US. Good question to ask why they use so little. If you can control BP on one drug that is always better IMHO. Clarence Grim lowerbp2@...
