Guest guest
The chiropractor might have been confused on fish oil vs cod LIVER oil. Lots of people get regular fish oil, which is not the same thing, and not much use. Even the bright, helpful gal in my local co-op recommended fish oil when I was asking about CLO the other day. I had to explain the difference. Guest guest
Some people are concerned with a Vitamin A overdose. Some CLO's have very high Vitamin A levels. From what I read tho, the studies with Vitamin A overdose used SYNTHETIC Vitamin A. Maybe that's what the chiropracter was speaking of. Guest guest
I am not presuming to speak for the mentioned Chiro, but I will add what I know about the issue with CLO. Dr. Peat, a well known researcher and esteemed professor has published many articles and papers addressing the issue of oils. His comments come from published research. He states, " that while CLO is less toxic than corn or soy oil, a diet rich in fish oil causes intense production of toxic lipid peroxides. " I'm going to list the link to his website, so that anyone who is interested can go in and read his entire paper on Unsaturated Vegetable Oils: Toxic. Some of his articles are rather technical for lay people, but I think it is still worth reading. http://www.efn.org/~raypeat/nutri.html I am not saying whether I agree wholeheartedly with his opinion, but after reading some of his referenced studies, it gave me a lot to think about. I guess it just goes back to that age old arguement for eating foods in their whole and natural state; rather than man thinking that he can one-up nature and find a shorter route to extract just the " active " ingredients. <<heavy sigh>> Lyne - who still has not acquired a taste for fish heads or other fish " parts " . Guest guest
Lyne - who still has not acquired a taste for fish heads or other fish " parts " . Me either Lyne. Can't handle CLO etc. either. Any other alternatives? I can choke down a can of tuna if I have to. Jeanne
