Guest guest
For , Your slightly low sodium is right where you want it to be with PA. My sodium has been mostly slightly low since 1990. It has gone up a couple of times with new meds that cause me to retain fluid. The last time was about 6 months ago with lyrica. It caused my bp to go up and I had to discontinue the med. Prednisone caused it to drop down to 127 and my bp to spike to 170 in less than 1 week and I had to discontinue it. That was the drug that had always helped with my neuropathy pain in the past and it was a bit disappointment to have to give it up. Spiro caused my sodium to go down to dangerous levels and my k to go up to dangerous levels and that's one of the reasons I can't take it. It also made me nauseous all the time. I wish I was like you with the spiro as that would probably help a lot of my effects of PA. A word of caution. You should do blood tests for k and sodium pretty regularly. I test every month or 2 as my numbers have been all over the place the last 2 years. Other than that, it sounds like you're doing very well and can live a mostly normal life. Good Luck, Jan P.S. I can't take Norvasc either. I had terrible side effects and severe heart palpitations with it. I now watch every new med with daily notes to be sure I don't get in trouble. In fact, I'm pretty negative to any new meds right now. My doctors aren't too happy about that as they would have me on cholesterol lowering drugs and other pain meds but they respect my decisions and leave it pretty much up to me. I just don't want to be sick and tired any more unless a new med is critical for my health.
Guest guest
Thank you for sharing your experiences. I'm sorry you can't take spiro. Have you had any luck with Inspra? I'm not scheduled for another doctor visit for 3 mos. I suspect he'll have me do bloodwork at that time. I know what you mean about med side effects. I worry about this, because if I decide to stay on spiro or Inspra and not have an adrenalectomy, I wonder what will happen down the road as I age. I'm 51 now and not on any other type of med, but anything could happen. My father had a rough time on prednisone too. He was on it for chronic bronchial obstructive something or other, and while it did help his lungs, it raised his blood sugar so high that he required insulin. So meds often solve one problem and create a whole new one. > > For , > > Your slightly low sodium is right where you want it to be with PA. > My sodium has been mostly slightly low since 1990.
