Guest guest
Oh the joys of parenting. It's 1:30am and I'm finally doing all those little things that I had planned on doing today before Abby had her meltdown earlier today. I know things will greatly improve once we get her to take naps (not the 10 minute kind). We went to the osteopath for the cranial sacral therapy today. Sometimes I think dr's have no clue. Would you like to know what his definition of plagiocephaly is? He says (and I quote), " if you can see it across the room...then it's plagiocephaly. If you have to get up close to see it, that's not plagiocephaly. " Wonder which class he learned that in? As much as I love the things that've been accomplished with the sacral massage, I'm starting to think this dr is a bit of a nitwit. He told me today that if I did have Abby wear a helmet, he'd stop treatment. We'd be welcome to come see him after she was done. Nice, huh? On a totally different topic, I have some great tort news Abby fell asleep in the car today and her head just flopped all over...in any old direction. I was ecstatic. What a day! Guest guest
Christy, YeeHaw about the floppy head thing - Hooray for Abby!! As for the cranial sacral therapist - I think he has a lot to learn about plagio and working as a team. I just can't see anything wrong with him working as part of a team to help your baby! It's ridiculous for him to take the " my way or the highway " approach - sheesh! Still, if he has been able to help with the tort then I guess he has done something good. I'm glad to hear that the tort is improving! That will surely help make the repositioning easier! Marci (mom to ) Oklahoma

Christy, Oh my goodness, that is a new one to me. I would think if there were such a class as Being a Jerk 101, that's where he learned it! I can't believe he won't continue to treat Abby if you go ahead with a helmet. I'm usually a very quiet person, but this would have me complaining up a streak! You're absolutely right, he is a nitwit! Congrats on Abby's head being able to flop all over the place! That is terrific news! Niki christyludwig <christyludwig@...> wrote: Oh the joys of parenting. Guest guest
Christy, I have read so many posts of experiences all over the world with Doctors on this Board and somehow I am still shocked and in disbelief of how the medical " professionals " are treating the very people that make their bread and butter!! I can't believe he would be that stupid to say if you can't see it across the room its not plagio. Well, guess what, if I have crooked teeth and I don't smile a lot out of embarrassment, does that mean my teeth aren't crooked because you never see them? Basically he's telling you if you can get away with hiding it from the general public, there is not a problem. Well, hello, there are also facial features, a muscular and nerve system attached to those skull bones that are shifting and could also affect a person medically!! (like you all needed to hear that, but it just irks me!!!!). And what about looking in a mirror- do they have to stand 10 feet away to feel comfortable with the way they look?! MORON!!!! If you really like this guy because of the craniosacral- you could always take the helmet off and not say a word about it- then everybody's happy and he'll be none the wiser! I was so happy to read that Abby seems to be doing really well in fighting the tort- that's awesome that her head was going in ALL directions!! WOO-HOO- a big happy dance on that one! I think repositioning is very hopeful, and I would continue to do this as much as possible- whatever works! and it has for many, so don't stop there! Keep up the good work and I hope to see a great post of more progress to come!! Good luck! ' Mom
