Guest guest
I didn't see this come through the first time, so I'm sending again. . . . Hello Folks, I'm very sorry we haven't put out an update on Wayne for awhile. As you can imagine we've been pretty busy trying to keep everything going here on the farm, and spending as much time as possible with Wayne at the hospital. Wayne is doing pretty darn good for the condition he's in! Though we've had to wait much longer than we thought for a decision on his back, he won't be having surgery. He will be wearing a clam shell brace on his back for the next few months to allow his back to heal properly. He's been upgraded to a new brace on his right leg, which allows him slight movement in the knee. This has helped a great deal with balance when he needs to stand to transfer to the wheelchair. Wayne is coming home today! We reached a point two days ago where we knew he would recover much better at home, so we began the process of getting all of his Doctor's to agree. He'll come home in a wheelchair, which means this old house will have to be turned upside down to accommodate. He'll be in the wheelchair until his leg is strong enough to hold his weight, and he gets a walking brace, which will take about 3-4 months. His attitude is good - he's determined to work hard at his therapy and become strong again. With us to help him here at home we're sure he'll make great strides! Please keep Wayne (and his family) in your prayers during the coming months, as we all work to keep things running. It's going to be a hard road for all of us.
