Guest guest
Hi, My daughter graduated from the DOC band on June 20. Treatment was not started until she was 15 months old so we knew we wouldn't see dramatic results. She received some correction on her forehead, but she still has a flat spot on the side. I understand some people in this group have been told what percent correction their child has received. We chose to do the exit casting for this reason. I am curious to know how much correction was obtained. I am still waiting for the head mold to be finished, but when I ask if they are going to provide the percent correction, they seem to have no idea what I am talking about. Is it uncommon to get this information? Thanks, Toni Mom to Cassidy (born 11/25/00) Illinois
Guest guest
Hi Toni, We were never told percent of correction partly because the number is so subjective. If I had to guess I would say 50-60%. You can always ask if they don't offer the info. Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
Guest guest
Toni, In my personal experience, when we say improved approximately 90-95%, this is a total guess on my part and CT- it could very well be 89% for all I know. They did not take formal measurements, and we did not do the exit mold, but we aren't being to sticky with the numbers game, we see the correction and he looks great so we go by our visual idea of how much correction he actually received. I wouldn't put much weight into any percentages, I think it just gives an idea or a picture of what has happened, at least in our case. I think most times when I personally say a percentage I'll say we guess it to be, or approximately, but for us there was never a formal way to calculate it- we just know it worked well! I would be curious to know if others are getting actual correction stats myself! ' mom
