Guest guest
, Abby has a raised ridge that goes along her left coronal suture. It starts almost next to her soft spot and goes halfway to her ear. She had a rough delivery and had to be vacuumed. The ridge is on the same side of the vacuum. The plastic surgeon said the ridge is caused by the body's attempt to heal the vacuum injury (which was quite significant, but that's a story for another day). Consequently, the same things that were working on healing the bump ended up working along the suture. The doctor assured me that it hasn't caused the suture to fuse, and the ridge will probably be there for a couple years. He said the same type of thing forms whenever a bone breaks...it's just part of the healing and it goes away in time (he said 2-3 years). Hope this helps, Christy (mom to Abby ~ 4 months)
