Guest guest
I just wanted to introduce myself to the group. My name is and I am a SAHM of two. The newest ds is just about 5 months old and it looks as if he has plagiocephaly. I say here we go again, because my first ds had it too!!! At least we know what to expect. Does anyone have any experience with the Janet Weis Children's hospital in Danvillie, PA? (the last time we went to Hershey Medical Center, but our insurance is going to drop them as a participating hospital--boo hoo). I look forward to chatting with everyone. Guest guest
Hi : WElcome to our group! Did your first son where a helmet or band to correct his plagio? If so, how'd that work? If not, did his plagio correct over time and his head round out on it's own, or is there some remaining flatness today? What a bummer that your 2nd son has it now too! Grrrrrr. We have a few members of our group who have or had 2 children with plaigo.. Makes you wonder doesn't it? We have some members from PA, I hope one of them is familiar with the Dr & hospital you have mentioned. Good luck with all this AGAIN! We look forward to getting to know you more. Guest guest
, Hello and welcome! What kind of treatment did your first baby undergo for the plagio? Did he have a helmet? I'm not from the PA area, but one of our moderators (Niki) is, maybe she will be familiar with the hospital you mentioned. Best of luck and we look forward to learning more about you and your boys! Guest guest
Thanks for the welcome! Walter (DS#1) wore a helmet for about six months. The whole experience was not as bad as I had thought it would be. If you were to look carefully, I suppose you probably could see some flatness, but you'd have to know what to look for. It's not the thought of having to go through this again that bothers me, it's not getting to go to the hospital of my choice. Henry, (DS#2) is just as stubborn as his brother...likes to sleep on the same side ALL THE TIME. Repositioning is not helping at all. So, we'll see if we get the band or the helmet. We have not even made the appointment to see the specialist yet, I just know what's coming, and hopefully this time I can comiserate with parents who are in the same boat. Many Thanks, Centre Hall, PA
Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the group! I live in PA as well, but unfortunately I think I live too far east to have any insight into the hospital that you have mentioned. I'm really sorry that they have dropped the Hershey Medical Center, it figures that things couldn't be made easier for you! I guess if there is any consolation to having a second child develop plagio, you already know what to do. Its not as much as a guessing game this time around, I suppose. Good luck to you! I really wish I could have been of more help! Niki Kaylie & Danny (STAR grads) Phila., PA > I just wanted to introduce myself to the group. My name is and > I am a SAHM of two. Guest guest
Hi and Welcome!! I live in Pennsylvania too, about 1 hr. east of Pittsburgh. My son wore a STARband for approx. 8 mos. (he graduated in March '02). He got his band through Union Orthotics and Prosthetics in Pittsburgh (a little too far from you I suppose). I thought everyone there was just great. I was just wondering - 's orthotist name was Terry Stock. He came to Union from Hershey Medical Center. By any chance did he happen to you work with you on your first son? He said he had approx. 20 years experience with cranial remolding devices. We really liked him and thought he was very knowledgeable and experienced. I'm sorry that you have to go through this all over again, but if anything, at least you know what to expect. We are thinking of possibly having another baby here real soon and I worry about having another child with tort/plagio. But that will not stop me from having another - if it happens - I will deal with it. Take care and good-luck to you!!! AnnMarie and (17 mos.) STAR grad Tort (almost resolved)
