Guest guest
Good evening everyone, I wanted to say thanks to all those who replied to my " New here and at wit's end " post last week. I planned to reply sooner than this but we had to make an emergency run out to South Dakota to pick up my 19 year old step-daughter. Grrrrr. Anyway, I got back yesterday and I was able to read through all the posts and I am so grateful for the nice replies. I got some great advice from you!! I DID find another PT who can see Amaya next Friday. I think in light of our no-insurance situation, I am going to just have them teach me how to do the exercises and I will do them at home. Also, I called her dr. and was told that if we wait until her 6 mo. appt. we will still have plenty of time to get her referred for further treatment. So...I guess I will chill out and wait til then, although I don't WANT to wait...they're not really giving me an option to be seen sooner. Also...in the meantime I researched info on the helmets, because I am almost positive she will be needing one. Her condition is so obvious and really severe in my opinion. Unfortunately, there isn't a Cranial Technologies office here in Minnesota, but there is 4 hours away in Wisconsin. Do you all think it would be worth the trip(s) to see them? Or just go through someone local? Or what? From what I read, the DOCBand is far superior, and of course, like any mom, I only want the best for my baby. Is there anyone else from the loop in the Minneapolis area who can offer more specific advice - and who to go to? Thanks again!!!!!!!! You all are great!! ~Sheila P.S. I've attached a pic of Amaya which isn't the best pic of her, but clearly shows the tort. and the assymetry of her eyes and ears, and even her nose and mouth. You can't really see the flat spot tho which is more towards the back of her head.
