Where in Arkansas are you? There is a Cranial Technologies clinic in Dallas

and there are several specialists located at Medical City of Dallas, just

down the street from CT. Is that too far for you? Can you tell us more

about your daughter?

I just want to say thank you for replying to me..it's just so great to have

someone to talk to..i live in Fort smith, AR..it's about 4-5 hr. drive from

Dallas..my husband and parents go very every now & then...i have massaged my

daughter's head. and only on the top it is round ..like my husbands..i have

heard that one cause of plagio is from a lack of amniotic fluid..i don't know

but she was a very cone head..i had a 5 hr delivery..16 hr. all together...it

was horrible my tailbone was aching and it was the only thing aching ..it still

is since jan. 13..the doc figured out that i still had water in my urinary

glands..i wished they emptied it sooner..oh, my daughter is 6mths & she still

can't seem to balance her head..it either goes up or down..i just hope the doc.

can help..he's what i'm depending on. thanks again for responding Gail &

Niki....I am very happy to hear that your child(ren) had graduated..I'm happy

for ya & all who is going to graduate. -mary

Hello and welcome to the group. I'm from Oklahoma and we had our treatment in

Oklahoma City. I can tell you that the University Hospital in Oklahoma City has

a top notch pediatric neurosurgeon and an outstanding orthotist that works with

the STARband. I would very highly recommend both of these people and would be

happy to provide their names and phones numbers if you need/want them. I

honestly can't remember if we have ever had members from Arkansas before, but we

have numerous members from Texas.

You've probably already been asked this, but maybe you could share a little more

of your story with us. I hope your ped will refer you since you obviously feel

strongly about it. Stand up for yourself and your baby and insist on that

referral. You have a right to the treatment you feel your baby deserves!

Best wishes and I hope we will hear more from you!!

Marci & niki, thank you for helping..it's so nice to have someone to talk

to..thinking about going to the doc's make me nervous i can feel it in my

hands..Marci are you a StarBand? OKC is 3 hrs away from here..yes, i would like

the name and number of those docs. it would really help..i had called my doc.

and since our well baby check up is on tues. we have to see him then.... i am

going to give him all the info. i can..i don't know if he will not let this go

through or what..i'm really scared bc my bb's on medicaid (arkids first-a).. & he

is what i need to let this happen..our 4mth. we asked him about her head..and he

said she was just born like that ..everytime i wash her head the top of the back

is just up there...one of her eyes is smaller than the other..and looking at her

cheeks the left one looks a bit larger...she ;s such a beautiful baby , but her

head is something else..i let her sleep on my bed..which is an ortho-bed cushion

on the top..i'm a home mom. so i usu. check her every min. plus i have a

monitor..you can hear her breathe on it..it's very sensitive...you know everyone

always say something about her head ...being like her father's (bc he has

plagio..the back of the head is totally flat..his mother tried to fix is cone

head-he was born in laos) & everyone teases him about his head being big..but i

lv him..well my daughter is different..she has the common..but it looks like she

has two plagio. the one in the back & to the right..or is that one? she too

had a coney head..i'm holding her up alot since last month..she seems to always

look down..can't hold her head still either...i feel so bad...she was a very

healthy 7.07 lb baby, kicks all the time..but her head isn't steady..is this

normal in a 6mth old?..to cut it short thanks marci & niki and any info. you or

anyone else have that convinced your doc to get a referral to a specialist would

be helpful...i'm printing out lots of stuff..i just hope he takes this seriously

this time..time isn't on my side..so i hope he just says " yes, i will refer U to

a specialist " ..urh!..i get nervous thinking about it. -mary

Hi ,

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond to this. Below is the info about Dr.

Francel - he was our neuro and has TONS of experience with banding. I HIGHLY

recommend him.

Preferred Physician: Francel, MD

specialty: Neurosurgery

address: 711 Stanton L. Young Blvd.

Suite 206

City: Oklahoma City

State: OK

Zip/postal code: 73104

Country: USA

Telephone number: 405-271-4912

Physician's Website

(if available): ouhsc.edu

He refers patients to Bill Barringer who makes the STARband. He is very, very

experienced and has been doing this for a long time. He is also well

respected by the people at Orthomerica (makers of the STARband). I also

HIGHLY reccommend him. He works in association with Dr. Francel. I have his

number here somewhere, but can't find it off hand. Let me know if you want

it. On a side note, the STARband costs considerably less then the DOCband and

Bill Barringer's office lets you make payments! (Of course, so does CT)

I completely understand your feelings about all of this. You are an excellent

mom to be doing all this searching for your baby. Best of wishes to you and

let me know if you need more info about these guys.

Just wanted to let you know that you have EVERY right by law, to seek a specialists opinion. This is non-negotiable. Tell him that is simply what you want to do at this point and if he is a good Doctor- he will do just that! Good luck and be strong!
