Guest guest
Hi Anastasia, I don't have any personal experience with Hanger, but your not the first person I've talked to that wasn't happy with them. It doesn't take long to get an appt with CT in NJ. The first appt would be the consult,(but maybe if they know you already have the hanger helmet, they'll make your first appt the casting appt.)It takes 14 days to get the band. For a baby your age, I believe you'd go once a week. Have a great time in Europe! Please keep us posted. > > Stacey ( & Everyone else out there) > > I'm starting to think that this Hanger band isn't doing much. It's only been 3 weeks but I feel as thought the PT did some amazing work and the band hasn't nearly done anything close to that in the three weeks of wearing it. Also my son (now 4 months) has begun to turn over but only from his bak to his stomach and so he's woken up with a swollen eye and a large red mark on his head. Has this happened to anyone else? So I have decided to keep it off. I'm also leaving to Europe for three weeks and am thinking of making an apointment with CT in NJ for when I come back b/c from what I understand it takes a long time to get set up with them. How long does this process take there? Also how often do you have to go there? Just doing some serious re-thinking.... Any advice will help. > Anastasia (Long Island, NY) > > ADVERTISEMENT > > > > > > --------------------------------- >
Guest guest
anastasia: I'm soo sorry to read of your unhappiness with the Hanger Band I am drawing a blank, is the Hanger band active or passive? It's only been 3 wks, but with your son's young age, I would also be a bit concerned yet that you haven't seen any improvement. I'd be even more concerned about his swollen eye & a large red mark. Does the red mark fade after the band has been off for an hour? Regardless, his eye definitely should not be swelling one bit. Give your orthotist a call first thing Monday morning, that needs to be looked at right away and adjusted. To my understanding, if you wanted to get into Cranial Tech for an eval., I would imagine they'd get you in soon, I would say the wait wouldn't be any longer than a week, so maybe you could get in before you head to Europe? If you want their phone # it is 866-265-7730 toll free. My experience was that it was definitely worth switching my daughter into a DOCband after she spent 3 unsuccesful mos in her STARband. She had very good results in her DOCband at an older age. Let us know what your Hanger orthotist says if you call tomorrow. Sorry to hear of your disappointment .
