Guest guest
Hi : I don't want to scare you, but you really should get that seen by someone who can take x-rays and be sure that the coronal sutures are still open. If they are not, your baby could require surgery. Please check out the website Cappskids.org , or .com (I can't remember). It is a site about craniosynestosis, which I hope and pray your baby does not have. BUT, even if your baby does, treatment is available with terrific outcomes. If the sutures are still open, you might want to consider banding to get her head growing in a different pattern. Be prepared to talk you the surgeon that you will want to see to rule out the cranio about banding. Good luck, and write back if you have more questions, concerns, etc. Also, I'm sure the moderators of this site will have some more info for you... Guest guest
: I see you've already gotten several great responses & I'd like to pretty much 2nd what everyone has said. A CTscan to rule out cranio sounds like it would be the best thing to have done here. DO you have any pics of your baby's head? If so, could you email them to the group plagiocephaly Thanks. Guest guest
Hi , My son also has a ridge from ear to ear over the coronal sutures, he was evaluated for it by a neurosurgeon and x-rays, and there was no fusion of the sutures. I now also see lots of young babies with that ridge on their head, so it doesn't necessarly means it's craniosynostosis. Though I would get it evaluated for peace of mind. My ped was like at yours at first and didn't think it needed to be investigated (now that i see so many babies with it, I understand him better), but I push for it. I'm happy I did, since now I don't have to worry about it. 's ridge is still there at 17 months old, but not as apparant as before. My ped told me that it keep on getting less obvious as he gets older. You can see my son's ridge on some pictures here: http://www.geocities.com/alittleone2000/plagiopage_photos.htm Annick Mom to (17 months old-repo grad) Mtl, Can. > Hi everyone..i'm recently new here..i was wondering if anybody's > child is experiencing the same thing..for some info: my baby who was > stuck in my birth canal for 3-5 hrs.. & i didn't have much amniotic > fluid...my ? is my baby has this bump on the top of her head..it's > not no ordinary bump...the bump is from ear to ear..if you can, > imagine a head band on top of the head..but this is from the > inside..does anyone else exp. this with their child? also the top > between this bump and her forehead is very flattening..it's like her > head is growing after that bump and back..flattened space after the > bump..i hope i'm not confusing anyone...for those that don't know me > i'm mary...thnks for any help
