Guest guest
Went well. When the nurse practioner asked what we were there for, I said " to confirm a diagnosis of positional plagiocephaly, and to receive a prescription for a corrective helmet and letter of medical necessity for the insurance company. " She asks a whole bunch of questions, then asked what I did for a living. She thought I was in the medical field or something with all the jargon I was using like " bossing forehead " etc LOL. The neurosurgeon came in, a real petite, feisty looking lady. She could tell immediately that Logan didn't have craniosynostosis. She pointed out his asymmetrical ears and said that doesn't happen with cranio. She diagnosed his plagio as mild. She then said " let's talk about helmets. " She then went on to say that studies have found that infant heads " round out " on their own. That helmets don't really help etc. My heart just lept to my throat and I instantly felt adrenaline coarsing through me. I was ready for a fight!! Then she said that if what we wanted was a helmet, it was our decision and she would prescribe it for us. THey already had a generic LMN to use for insurance. I told her about cranial tech and gave her the purple folder of info that Charlotte had given me. She was glad to have it. She also wrote a script for PT for his torticollis. It was a great visit. She wants to see him after he's had the helmet for two months. We feel so blessed that she was willing to help us. -/Logan 5 1/2 months PA
