No problem, I'll do my best to explain :

HELMETS: Are usually locally made at the office/clinic where your

son would be treated. Helmets are usually cover the baby's entire

head, bands are usually open on top. Helmets are usually

considered " passive or inactive " . This means the helmet is molded

into the shape of what your child's head should grow into, it will

leave a gap in the flat area of your child's head, which will grow

into as your child hits growth spurts. Helmets work best on younger

babies, as they hit frequent growth spurts.

BANDS: Bands, such as the DOCband made by Cranial Technologies and

the STARband made by Orthomerica, are open on top (usually). The

bands are considered " aggressive or active " . This means the bands

apply very slight pressure (not felt by the child at all) to the non

flat side of the child's head, this helps push the flat side out and

allows the flat side of the head to catch up to the non flat side.

The bands also rely on growth spurts by the child to get correction,

however, they usually work faster than a passive helmet. Bands are

the fastest way to get correction, especially in an older baby.

I hope I helped, I know this is all very confusing.!
