I'm sure there are a few old timers would would love to see their records set in gear untouched for ever. But that isn't going to happen . The sport of powerlifting doesn't want to give up equipment. This whole unequipped thing only happened about 6 or 7 years ago. It is all but dead on the vine. I believe even the IPF signed an agreement to not sanction meets with unequipped divisions when it first started and got sick of all the whining and crying they brought and won't even allow the discussion of unequipped lifting on their forum. The APF and IPA won't run them, nor will the WABDL. The only organization left is the AAU and one of their very insignificant splinter organizations. I know of 2 or 3 good meet directors that have left the AAU because of their insistence to run unequipped meets. Both pro organizations won't laugh at unequipped divisons.
