Guest guest
Hi Everyone! Since there are a few kids getting fitted soon or getting their bands/helmets soon, I wanted to pipe in with a great piece of advice that my neurologist gave to us when our first child got his helmet. The day we went he said to not put the helmet on right away. Let him play with it on the way home and sleep with it in his crib. Then, in the morning after a bath, put it on. Worked like a charm! When the doctor first told us this, I thought the man was nuts, but he was right. Seems to have something to do with developing an " ownership " , so to speak, of the helmet. I don't know if they are still advocating this anywhere else, but it sure worked for us and Walter NEVER objected to his helmet. His was the kind that covered the whole head, with airholes, and had a valcro chin strap on it. And he had to wear it july 98 to december 98. Thanks for letting me pipe in my .02.
