Guest guest
, Good luck at your appt. and I would ask, since they are a locally made helmet, to see before and after pics and to have a thorough conversation on what their helmet is designed to do. I would find out how long they have been doing helmets and if they have any parents as contacts for referrals. Good luck and let us know how it goes- your hubby might feel better about it if they fully explain what its all about and can show pics that would prove that it will all be worthwhile. Guest guest
Many thanks to those of you who replied to my introduction. I realized that in my haste to post I didn't really introduce myself! My name is and my son is 8 months old. We're pursuing treatment in the Louisville, KY area. Brief update: we will be keeping our Monday appointment with the orthotists at the Center for Orthotic & Prosthetic care, www.centeropcare.com. I'm guessing that because they have a manufacturing center that we will be getting a locally made helmet. I have the list of ?s to ask them from the plagiocephaly.org site, and we decided that if we don't feel comfortable with them that we might pursue treatment at Cincinnati Children's, which is a little farther away. If we like the Center on Monday then we will likely go ahead with casting and fitting the same day. I am still checking to make sure all is squared away with our insurance. Our doctor told us that the cost would be approximately $1000 if we had to pay out of pocket. I think we can probably manage that if we have to. Still very nervous about Monday. Please keep your fingers crossed for us. I hope things go smoothly... my husband is not all that keen on the idea of the helmet. - (mom to )
Guest guest
Hi and thanks for the intro. It sounds like you have the right idea. Fire away with the questions and if you are in the least bit concerned you can always tell them that you would to think about it. Sorry your husband isn't too keen on the helmet. He may come around when he sees 's head getting nice and round. Plus I think banded babies are absolutely adorable! Best wishes with your appointment - please let us know how it goes. Guest guest
Hi , I want to second Marci's thoughts that your husband might come around as he sees 's head getting rounder. My husband was less than thrilled with the idea of the helmet, but now he proudly points out the rounding Cole has received. He agreed to it initially only because I was so adamant and worried (I think he would have agreed to just about anything if it would help my worrying), but now he thinks it was definitely the right decision. Good luck and keep us posted! Kia (mom to Cole, STARBand 6/18/02, born 11/20/01) -----Original Message-----From: marcisch@...
