plagio epidemic

Hi all,

I went to my 2 1/2 year old's swim lesson class last night. They had

combined the infant and toddler class because they were short on teachers

(what a mess!). But between the 2 classes, there were 2 babies with

moderate/severe plagio and a 3 year old with severe plagio. There were

probably only 15 kids total, and at least 3 of them had some degree of

plagio... in my opinion they were all pretty severe (definitely very

" visible from across the room " ... to use that infamous definition!). This

is crazy! I am beginning to wonder about those statistics of 1 in 60... it

seems like everywhere I go I see heads that are far from round. Of course,

I am inspecting heads everywhere I go now. It's contagious too... my

friends have started to notice plagio in other babies and toddlers. Is it

only me, or do you think it's more common than the stats are indicating?

Kia,

I think there is certainly an epidemic going on and the studies would

indicate that as well since the Back to Sleep campaign started- which is a

good thing if everyone was informed with ALL of the information needed for a

healthy baby, besides back sleeping. I feel a sense of relief when I don't

see a baby in a crowd that looks to have plagio- I have been at the fair and

was shocked to see NO babies with it- and then at a store and I did see a

baby with some degree, but I was too chicken to bring it up as it was not

severe. These Docs need to get a handle on this as it is becoming very

widespread!

Kia,

I wonder that sometimes too. In 's daycare class there are 12 kids. Two of

them have significant plagio and then still has some residual issues. That

makes three in 12. I wonder about the stats also. It's crazy that plagio is so

prevalent and yet there are still so many IGNORANT doctors!
