Guest guest
I was just reading a website for combat conditioning. The author is fairly well known in the grappling world and no holds barred type circles of competition. He makes some statements regarding conditioning that I thought might generate some discussion. I am not up on the research as far as being able to identify exact articles that would refute what he states are myths. He basically makes a challenge to anyone that can site an article to refute what he states. I'll try to send it within this text and as an attachment because I'm not that computer literate. Sorry in advance. The Internet is filled with free sites where you can go read the same old drivel. It's not hard to find " experts " who will tell you: " Don't do freehand squats with your knees over your toes - it'll shear your joints. " " Don't bridge, it'll compress your vertebrae. " " You can't get stronger doing bodyweight exercises. " What these experts won't tell, however, is that they have no evidence to support these statements. Ask these people to find one study that proves that freehand squats with your knees over the toes - shears the joint. Ask them to find the study that proves that bridging harms the neck. Ask them to find the study that proves that bodyweight exercises, done in high repetitions or in low repetitions, can't make you stronger. But ask me about the testimonials I have received from delighted customers. Ask me about the large numbers of people who have written me to say they had bad knees before using the Hindu squats, and now they are much better, out of pain and full of pep. I have the letters. Ask me about the people who have had broken necks and fused vertebrae - and how bridging has done more to rehabilitate their spine than anything they have ever tried. I have the letters. Ask me about the people who have acquired more functional strength from the exercises in my book, " Combat Conditioning, " than from years of using other programs. Guess what? I have a ton of letters saying just that. , MS, LATC, CSCS Landmark School 412 Hale Street Prides Crossing, MA 01965 (978)236-3233 (978)921-0361 Fax ---------- ***Kindly note that this eGroup will not accept any attachments because of the risk of transmitting computer viruses.
