Guest guest
Hi I was diagnosed when my son was 7 and until then had no idea this was genetic, because the doctors apparently never told my sister that it was and she had already been sick about 11 years when I had . I know now that I could never had dealt well with a small child in the condition I'm in now and is still hard to cope with since he is 14 going on 40 and ADHD and has Bipolar Disorder he inherited from Dad. We took him last week to a child neurologist and he has no neuro deficits and no sign of CMT. So thankfully for that. My mother tested negative also so now the doctors are requesting my deceased sister's records and want my father to be tested to try and locate the source. may be a carrier for all we know, but as it is when or if he decides to have children besides the CMT there is Asthma, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder and alcohol and drug abuse so it's not like his gene pool wasn't already complicated. I am happy though he's not showing any signs of the CMT and I hope he never does. He is now 5'7 " and 145 lbs. so he's a big help to me around the house if I can get him moving that is. Now it's on the phone with his girlfriend and school stuff and overnights at his best friend's house so I see much less of him and soon he'll be in high school. Oh the joys of parenthood..LOL Donna in Arlington(have a new e-mail) __________________________________________ NetZero - Defenders of the Free World Get your FREE Internet Access and Email at http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html
