Guest guest
Barbara, By the time my twins wore their bands, they weren't nursing anymore. But having to nurse two at the same time opened the floor to some interesting nursing positions. I don't know how well of a job I can do describing it, but here goes. Have Sophia 'sit' next to you, with her facing you, but so that her legs go behind you. This way her face is right at bust level, and all you should have to support is the back of her head and neck. I hope you can picture it is what I'm describing, because I really think this position would cut back any shifting or pressing on the band. And since she is in more of a 'sitting' position, you won't have to worry about fluid running back in the ears. As for the 'V' in the DOCband, I really don't know what to tell you. I'm going to let someone who has personal experience with the DOC answer that for you. As far as shifting goes, I always took the bands off to readjust them. Good luck Barbara! Guest guest
Niki, Thank you. I think I know what you are saying. I'm gonna try it and let you know. Thanks. I forgot to ask. The DOC band has a velcro strip. Whenever we go to open the strip the noise it makes scares her so much. We try to open it slowly. I guess there is not much we can do about that? Thanks Barbara (Sofia & Catalina) > Barbara, > > By the time my twins wore their bands, they weren't nursing anymore. > But having to nurse two at the same time opened the floor to some > interesting nursing positions. Until Spohia does get used to it, try to distract with a toy or sing to her. Sometimes I think it might be better to just open the velcro as fast as possible to get it done and over with...kind of like with band aids! Guest guest
Barbara I was so worried when whe first found out Mya was getting a band. Because I thought oh no Im not going to be able to nurse any more. She was 9 months when she finally got her band and it was very awkward at first it hurt my arm so bad but after a while it was second nature. I tried other postions like football hold etc but they never worked for us Mya was used to the regular position and she doesnt like change too much. So after a while we just adjusted to it. I would cradle Mya and shed fall right in to place. I also took the hour that she was out of her band and used that time to nurse her so that I could cuddle real good and rub her soft little head. I never worried about elevating her head. Shes only had one ear infection and it was mild because we caught it at a well baby visit. My other two children were bottle fed and many times were layed down to drink there own bottle on the floor or play pen and one had ear infections all the time and one had none. Sooo anyway iwouldnt worry about the elevating thing right now you have a lot on your plate to worry about. It could be that elevating her may be whats causing the band to push against her face. I never had problems with it doing that. I always made sure the v was in the middle and at the beginning I could just shift it back to place but as she got bigger Ive had to take it off and reasjust it. Im not sure about the covering the ears part you might want to mention that the next time you go to get the band adjusted. Feel free to email me christiz75@... if you have any more breastfeeding questions. I know I was so worried about it when I first started nursing her in the band. GOod luck CHristi mom to MYA(DOC band 3/6/02) > Hi, > > I am breastfeeding Sofia and am having a little bit of a difficult > time with the band. Guest guest
Thanks Christi, I do same thing you did with Mya when Sofia is out of the band for an hour. She loves bath time so we play in the water then I nurse her and caress her head. We're going to CT tomorrow so I'll ask them. Thank you Barbara (Sofia & Catalina) > Barbara > I was so worried when whe first found out Mya was getting a band. > Because I thought oh no Im not going to be able to nurse any more. > She was 9 months when she finally got her band and it was very > awkward at first it hurt my arm so bad but after a while it was > second nature.
