Guest guest
Hey Shari, It may be raw but it's also non-deodorized and non-refined. That's why it costs more than the RFD cheapo coconut oil. I'd really suggest you do more research online about why it's important to get the " right " coconut oil. Raw is not the only story. Coconut oil does not get unstable with heat- only butter and coconut oil do not (I cannot remember if there are any other WAPF-accepted oils as well- maybe butter oil, but butter oil is really for therapeutic use, not cooking use). Coconut oil has loads of the medium lauric acids hence why the stability. So it's not a shame to fry with it. I don't usually bake with it as it can impart a coconut taste which is not always desirable. There is a good recipe for " Coco Choco Treats " - which involves no baking. I think if you google for it, you can find a good recipe for it. If not, let me know and I will try to dig it up for you and the rest of the people here. To get you started on your education about coconut oil, try www.coconutoil-online.com and Wilderness Family Naturals. Possibly mercola.com though I haven't looked there in a long time specifically for coconut oil. Would be a shame to buy the expensive raw stuff and cook with it! TIA, Shari ..
Guest guest
Don't forget that coconut oil is also very good for your skin! Use it to moisturize, add your favorite essential oils for massaging, you can even use it in place of conditioner by applying thin amounts to hair & /or scalp. In my opinion, it's one of the best oils you can use for your skin & I use it in many of my all natural skin care products. Amber
Guest guest
I add a spoonful of coconut oil to a cup of tea, stir it up well to break up the oil globules, and drink. It imparts a bit of coconut flavor, but I think that if I didn't know it was there, I probably wouldn't notice.
