Guest guest
Marilyn My husband too felt this way. He thought that it was just a big hoaxe and that it was all set up to get money. But if you see flatness in your childs head then the doctor probably saw that too. Thats all they did with myas first eval too is measure her head check her neck and said yep she needs PT and a band. and that was it.(although she did have xrrays and a Ct scan torule out cranio at the military hosp) and at her second eval even less he walked in measured her head and said looks better but needs another band. Myas head has improved a lot so it does work. But you have to be completly dedicated to this and sure about your decision. Its a hard thing to do. I know. I mean I really dont want mya to have a second one but in my heart I know its best for her. And Im sure you will figure out what is best for your child. Only you can make the final decision! Guest guest
Marilyn - I felt the same way at first about it being a conflict of interest. My mom, who is an administrative nurse, quickly pointed out that we comply with our ped's suggestions for vaccinations and she makes a big chunk of change on that. We don't consider that to be a conflict. Go with your instincts. I saw your other post about becoming a member of the head police. It only gets worse! My son had moderate plagio (14 mm of cva and 8mm of facial asymmetry). I posted message #35685 with a picture of his headsicle and then another picture of his band on the headsicle. You can see where it held the bulging areas and allowed for his head to fill in on the flat spots. They really do work! I would say his head is now rounder than most babies his age (10 months). As soon as I get his exit headsicle, I am going to post a picture showing how well his ears realigned. Good luck with your decision! Guest guest
Marilyn, Hayden's evaluation sounds very similar to my twins initial evaluation. The neuro measured their heads with a tape measure, checked range of motion, and also checked to see how they were coming along with some of their other milestones. I assume that through years of experience, and with a trained eye, the specialists know when technology needs to intervene and when it doesn't. I don't what to say in regards to your doctor and CT having an alliance. I'm sure they have a very professional relationship. CT does not push bands, they have quite often told parents that their child doesn't need a band. So I would think you could rest easily knowing that the reason why Hayden is getting a band is because he would benefit from it, not because CT needed to make a sale. Good luck to you Marilyn, and keep us posted! Niki Kaylie & Danny (STAR grads) Phila., PA --- In Plagiocephaly@y..., " haydensmom122101 " <marilynheston@a...> wrote: > Hayden's first eval was today.
