Guest guest
Hayden's first eval was today. Not at all what I expected. I expected maybe CT scans or some type of technology. All they did was measure with a tape measure and check ROM of his neck- and say yep he would benefit from a band. I do not have a problem with Hayden wearing one, what bothers me is feeling like the doctor and Cranial Tech have an agreement to make more referrals than necessary as a marketing strategy. I found it bazaar that as soon as the doc walks out of the room the cranial tech rep walks in-- is this normal? It seemed a bit too " set up " . Please forgive me for saying so, being in the medical industry I know how many billions of dollars doctors make off pharmacetical companies for recommening their medicines, and I sort of felt this way about the doc and the Cranial Tech? Guest guest
Marilyn, I cannot honestly say I've ever heard of the CT person coming in right after the neuro evaluation. That's odd. Still, I have heard of many, many instances where CT said that banding would be optional only if the parents wanted it and also times when CT did not recommend banding so I know that they are not only about selling their product. Still, your situation was unusual..... You should go with your mommy instinct on this one. If Hayden looks good from the repositioning then maybe he can continue on that path and not do the helmet. You have to live with whatever decision you make so it really is up to you! Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.
