Guest guest Posted August 2, 2002 Report Share Posted August 2, 2002 does anyone know of anyother scanners besides mcaffe and that avast...i have mcaffe and that doesn't find a virus (i know i have one) and the avast one gets to 99% done and then says invalid comand...since i received that virus a little over a week ago i have had to quick restore my puter twice....its getting tiring..and i don't know what to do..i don't know what virus i have and how to get rid of it...can someone pleeeease help me... going outa my mind brenda mom of tucker Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest guest Posted August 2, 2002 Report Share Posted August 2, 2002 , Try this disable McAffe and then uninstall Avast. Reinstall Avast while you have McAffe disabled. Run Avast again. If it only gets to 99% again. Let me know. A lot of times if you have 2 virus scanners running, they tend to conflict. That may be your problem. I really wish you know what variant of the Klez you have.. it would make it so much easier to help you. The Klez virus changes stuff in your registry. That is probably why your having so many problems with your pc. Let me know if this doesn't help. One by one I eliminated things running on the thing, and when I uninstalled McAfee it never crashed again. It didn't work to just turn it off - it had to be uninstalled. I gradually reinstalled everything else and had no problems. I don't have any of those issues now that I'm running Norton antivirus. It doesn't make sense, but I think it must have been competing with something else, and since it couldn't play nice, it's not allowed to play at all anymore. If so try that uninstall both programs.
