Guest guest
Hi , is 8 months. I wonder if it has anything to do with the age, maybe that they "know" something is different? I'm hoping in time she's going to get back to her smiley self. ) Thanks for the painting tips, by the way! Kerri
Guest guest
Kerri, The spots you are looking for will be anything that looks pink or red and doesn't fade within the hour you have the band off. If the spot (or spots) fade within the hour or sooner then you do not need to worry about needing an adjustment and the helmet can be put back on. If the spots do not fade in an hour then leave the helmet off until you can get in for an adjustment. I never noticed a personality change in with the helmet. She pretty much went about business as usual. It is uncommon to hear of babies having trouble adjusting, but occassionally it does happen. Give her some time and I'll bet she will be back to her normal self. Often times parents of babies who were not adjusting well later discovered that it was partly due to something else like teething, ear infection, etc. If you have any major concerns then you should feel very free to contact your orthotist. They are working for you so they should be very happy and willing to answer questions and speak to your concerns. I hope that adjusts really soon - I'll bet she will! Guest guest
Kerri, How old is ? We had this same phenomenon with our daughter early on (she started just shy of 9mo old). In the early days she was very sullen when the band was on. I think she was just tired from the extra weight. It took about two weeks for her to build up the strength in her heck and act normally in the band. But through out the treatment, she would always seem a bit more bouncy when the band came off. Hope things get better for you. If the pink spots go away in an hour or less after the band is off, then you're okay. Call your OT if it takes longer then that. - 1st weekend in band & questions Well, we survived, I think. has now spent two days in her band. Already scratched up my beautiful paint job. )I have a question about red spots. How dark would they be if we saw any? When we took it off, it seemed like there were a few areas that were kind of pink, but not really red. Is this what we're looking for? I'm scared that we may be putting it back on when we should be leaving it off?? Also, have any of you noticed a personality change with the band on? isn't crabby exactly, she just doesn't smile. She sits there with no expression at all. That hour she had it off for a bath and rest, she smiled and giggled and carried on like normal. The minute the band went back on, she went back to the dull expression. Any thoughts on this?Kerri and in Chicago
Guest guest
Kerri, We'll see if the age has anything to do with it. My daughter will be going into her second band next week at 16mo old (after a 3 month break). I'm VERY concerned about how she'll do, since she was not particularly happy when se started the first one. - Re: 1st weekend in band & questions Hi , is 8 months.
