Debbie:

Boy, I just got to the 300+ e-mails in my in-box. I

am not quite as active on this list as I want to be,

but I am juggling a full time job, an incredibly

supportive husband and a 14 month old. I am just so

happy to read your e-mails every week and know that

there is such great support out there.

Annika is doing great! Thanks for asking. It looks

like she has another 4 weeks in the DOC Band. We have

noticed good improvement even in the last week. We are

really happy about that.

I did notice something odd though. When I was checking

her scalp I noticed 4 odd lumps perfectly symmetrical

on both sides of the back of her head (2 on each side;

behind the ears and toward the lower part of her

head). They are small like the size of large peas

that seem to move around when you touch them. I think

they are from the rubbing of the bottom of the band.

Has anyone heard of this before? We go in for our

next adjustment on Wednesday, so I plan on asking

then, but I am concerned and thought I would also

check with the group.

Thanks!

Tami,

Interesting about the lumps on the head. I don't think I have heard of this

exact scenario before although I have heard of lumps developing at the velcro

closure before. I will curious to hear what you find out from CT.

Tami,

I'm so glad to hear that you have seen so much improvement. The next

4 weeks should really fly by now!

I can't recall ever hearing of the lumps that you describe, I'm sorry

I can't offer you any advice in regards to that. Please let us know

what CT has to say about them!

Tami:

I am sorry I am not familiar with the lumps you are describing on

Annika's head. We do have a lot of posts about a lump or lumps on

the side of the baby's head where their DOCband velcro closure is,

this is simply fluid retention that is not harmful at all to the baby

& will go away soon after graduation. But Annika's lumps you have

described sound different, I'm curious to hear what Cranal Tech says

about them, let us know :)

Otherwise, that is great news to hear she could be graduating in just

4 wks & you've seen good improvement! I'm very happy for you!

Check back in with us when you can, I know what you mean about being

busy! I'm just thankful my work is slow so I can catch up on all my

posts while " working " !!! LOL.....I work for my dad & he keeps telling

me I should pay HIM to work there! It's so relaxing, esp. when I

deal with spazoid Abby on my days " off " (I work Tu-Thurs)....hehe.

Tami,

My son had this as well and I was told they were lymph nodes, and not to worry about them. I think one is still there, but I believe he had two. Hope this eases your mind a bit!

Tami: Like 's son, my DS also had those small knots about 1 inch

in from his ears. Of course my husband freaked out and insisted that

I take DS to the doctor immediately. After waiting at the ped.'s

office for over an hour (and taking time off from work), it took all

of 30 seconds for the doctor to tell me that, as I suspected, those

little knots/lumps are lymph nodes and completely normal. Our doctor

said that approximately 75% of all babies have them and that there is

no way of knowing for certain whether they are lymph nodes or simply

fatty masses, but in any event they are completely benign. Hope that

eases your mind -- and prevents you from wasting several hours at the

doctor like I did!
