And how do you travel by plane with powders? Internationally? I ask because

this is a problem I'm faced with. I can encapsulate everything but taking an

actual bottle of each thing I take is way too much stuff. Travel agents try

to say that all prescriptions and supplements need to be in their original

containers and buying by the kilo creates *large* containers.

Hi:

I travel internationally and domestically all the time. I prepare

zip-lock bags, one per meal for the entire time I'll be gone, each

with the big handful of supplements that I take. I just mark them

with the time of day by using different colored EmergenC packs as

identifiers inside the bags. I've travelled many times and never any

problems. I even take syringes and hgh. I don't carry prescriptions

either. I put most everything in the checked luggage. I might carry

a couple of vitamin packets in my laptop case on board.

If I had to bring the bottles of each, I'd need another suitcase just

for the vitamins. I unusually don't have time to take vitamins that

way when I'm attending meetings and conferences, opening each bottle

and deciding which to take when, etc. The pre-allocated bags work great.

Hi Dave:

I order bulk items somewhat infrequently. I have a ton of

information on many companies and some that I haven't bought

from. This email will be a summary of what I could find or remember

quickly and some pointers on how to find others yourself.

The ones on the top of my tongue are Wholesale Nutrition (very near

me in Saratoga) and I've been buying from them and an associated

amino acid supplier (you can get the name from them if still in

business) since the early 1980's:

http://www.nutri.com/

and for herbs, especially extracts Nature's Thyme

http://www.naturesthyme.com

(25kg min for herbs and 5kg min for extracts)

This company below will encapsulate your formulas for you.. For

about 5 Kilos the setup and cleanup costs about $90 and then $14.00

per 1,000 capsules. There are about 1,400 " 00 " capsules per kilo, by the way:

email: bingatvhni@...

site: http://www.vhni.com/nutritional_supplements.html

Most of the other places where I've gotten bulk are one-of

purchases. I just look for bulk suppliers through other suppliers,

encapsulators or through Internet searches more often in the past few

years. I've learned to use Google and " advanced " search

techniques that yield very good results. You have to be certain that

you find the " wholesale " or " bulk " suppliers, not the retail ones, as

there are a zillion of those and only a few of the former. Sometimes

the wholesale suppliers are listed on separate lists, so you have to

go through one or more levels of indirection to get to them.

When you do a Google search, it just looks for the words you enter

somewhere on the website, often hidden in html " keyword " or other

entries that are not visible. Your search terms don't need to make

sense. For example [wholesale kilo vitamin powder] might be a good

term to use. For example using [msm kilo powder bulk wholesale]

because I wanted to find MSM, I found

<http://www.google.com/search?hl=en & lr= & safe=active & client=firefox-a & rls=org.moz\

illa%3Aen-US%3Aofficial & q=msm+kilo+powder+bulk+wholesale & btnG=Search>this

search and clicked on <http://dragonflyherbals.com/herb.htm>this site

and found MSM for CAD$80 (Canadian Dollars) per kilo. Other

sources may be cheaper.

Some will only deal with you if you have a company name. I have one,

but if you don't, make one up, on the Internet, no one will check you

out except the chemical suppliers. Chemical suppliers in the US will

check their databases to make certain that they don't ship to a

residential address, for example. You can get anything from Chinese

chemical companies, that is if customs doesn't stop it. You need to

be cautious about purity from Asian sources.

Asian sources aren't always the cheapest, strangely enough. This

one, in Asia, curiously is more expensive than Nature's Thyme for

Tonkat Ali concentrated extract powder, for example

www.tongkatali-wholesale.com

Here is a bulk hormone source:

This company sells hormones and Viagra/Ciallis by the kilo, for

example Sildenafil Citrate ___FOB china USD950/kg is the

price. Therefore one dose (100mg) costs about a dime (9.5 cents) or

maybe 15 cents after shipping and encapsulation, but you'd have

10,000 doses. They will label it as an herb or however you want it

labeled to avoid seizure by customs. I've not bought from them, but

this is an example of what the real wholesale prices are through

China. Here's one that sells in smaller quantities: http://zyongfu.3322.net

I hope that this helps.

Jim:

Unfortunately yes there could be hightened scrutiny . However, I

sincerely doubt that pills in baggies would be considered a terrorist

threat. It is unlikely that checked bags will be opened and searched

on a regular basis, unless the mass spectrometer or the X-rays

predetermine a need to open it. It takes too much manpower. When

they've seen my vitamin baggies in carry-on, nothing was ever

said. The new rules ban liquids in carry-ons and electronic devices

on certain flights between the UK and US only.

When I travel I generally take only enough for the trip, usually in

small vitamin bottles or other bottles (film cannisters work well).

I figured that if they happened to find them and were suspicious the

worst thing that would happen is that they would test them for either

drugs or explosives, and after they found neither, would let me go.
