Just wanted to update and let you all know. Everything went

through with no problem with my insurance...it was actually easier

than I thought. The Dr wrote a perscription for the Starband, we

called the orthotists office, they called insurance and verified that

it would be approved and she called me back within 5 min that it was

covered. I had called her on a Friday..we had an appt for the casting

on the following Wednesday. It's been a week and a half, and 's

band should be ready this week, they said they would call when it is.

My little guy did pretty well. He played with his toy during the

first part of the casting and didn't fuss, then it came to the part

to do the front, so they had to put a piece of plastic over his eyes

and to cover the top of his nose so the plaster didn't get in his

eyes and nose. That's when he got upset because it got so hot, so

then he got himself upset and it caused his head to get really hot

and sweaty, but he did great. As soon as the tech took it off he was

fine. The tech covered very well as to not get plaster all over

him and we just had to minimally clean his arm a little and his

cheek. I'm so glad if wasn't a horrid experience for him. I'm hoping

he adjusts well and quickly when he gets it. He has to wear it for 23

hrs a day and 9-12 wks.

I'm sure i'll be checking in more frequently once he has his band,

i'm sure i'll need some support going through this.

Corinne,

Wow - sounds like things have progressed excellently for you and ! I'm

thrilled to hear that insurance won't be any problem - would you mind telling

us who you are insured through?

sounds like a trooper. I'll bet he will adjust to his band quickly. 23

hours a day is standard for band and helmets and the total amount of time in

the band varies from baby to baby.

Best of luck and let us know when the band comes in!
