Guest guest
Karissa, Congrats on insurance covering the bands under DME. Not to be a downer, but since it was over the phone, see if they will send you something in writing stating that. I personally didn't use the DOCband, but I have heard that they cost about $3000, I think I read $3500 before too. They will set up a payment plan and work with you to make up the remainder of the cost that insurance doesn't cover. The prices of locally made helmets vary, depending upon the orthos own set prices, but they are by far less expensive than either the STARbands or DOCbands. Good luck to you and Ozzy, please keep us updated!! Niki Kaylie & Danny (STAR grads) Phila., PA > I just had the doctor put in the referral for the band. Guest guest
Hi Karissa: That's great news your ins. will pay for some of the band! The cost of the bands varies, the DOCband made by Cranial Technologies usually costs $3,000.00. A STARband made by Orthomerica but available at many local orthotics/hospitals, avg cost I think is around $1,500.00. Locally made helmets are usually $1,000.00 give or take. Where do you live again? Sounds like things are rolling along smoothly for you! That's great. Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI > I just had the doctor put in the referral for the band.
