Guest guest
I know I can find help here. Grant has been wearing his DOCband for only 7 weeks. He started at 8 1/2 months. His head has already DRASTICALLY improved. So much so that it's hard for me the past few days not to give him more than an hour break (NOT THAT I HAVE BEEN...BUT I WANT TO). It's so hot here and I feel like my diligence may soon be waning...just because his head looks so darn GREAT. His forehead bulging is GONE and his ears are almost perfectly aligned. There is hardly any flatness on the back left side of his head anymore, but just a tiny spot behind his ear that has still yet to *pop out*. Someone give me a wake up call, smack or something to remind me that this important to KEEP GOING and that in the grand scheme of things a few months isn't a long time. He's just so snuggly and kissable and much cooler w/o it. And his head looks fantastic to me. His next adjustment is on Tuesday...I'll have to press for an estimate of how much longer the orthotist thinks it will be. I guess it also might help to hear again what HE thinks (un UNBIASED opinion) of Grant's progress. , Mom to Grant (born 9/26/01) ...in DOCband since 6/14/
Guest guest
- That is great news that Grant's head is responding so well to the band. Is that him in the CT Photo Album this month? I noticed a Grant in there. I think it's pretty safe to assume that when you ask on Tuesday they are going to say to continue with the 24/7. I wouldn't let it spoil your summer though. Take him swimming. How long can a baby stay in the pool? He's not going to want to be in there for hours. If I remember correctly, his measurements were similar to Dane (14 mm cva, 8mm fa) and they went into the band about the same time. Dane was 5 months and 4 days when it came in. The really good news is that Dane was done in about 12 weeks! Hopefully Grant will have a similar length of stay (or less)! Dane's mom DOC Grad > > I know I can find help here. Guest guest
, Definitely discuss this with the ortho. You are the one who has to live with the child and if you think it is good enough then perhaps it is. The ortho will be able to give you the rationale for keeping it on longer (if he does think it needs to stay on longer) and then you will have to decide what is best. I'm glad to hear that Grant is doing so well and that you have seen so much improvement. One way or the other, it will soon be over! Guest guest
: I'm soooo happy to hear how well Grant's head has rounded already! That's terrific, esp. that he's over 6 mos of age & has rounded so much so fast. Time for me to slap you upside your head (per your request..LOL, you cracked me up!).........you've come this far....why stop now????? Believe me, I know how cumbersome that band is, but the end result will be worth it, keep him in it as long as Cranial Tech tells you to. I thankfully never dealt with Abby's band in this horrible heat, but Abby wore bands for 8 or 9 LONG mos., I got really sick of it too. Hang in there, see what CT suggests at your next appt...let us know. Debbie Abby's mom DOCgrad MI > > I know I can find help here. Grant has been wearing his DOCband for only 7 weeks. Guest guest
I know exactly how you feel. I mean right now Mya is having a 3 week break from her band while we await band #2. Everytime she hugs me and lays her little soft head on my shoulder and I can rub her head I think of how I dont want that band back on her head for another 4 1/2 months. It was ultimately our decision. The doctor recommended another band for her. When I went to the next adjustment after the doctor visit the orthotist asked me would you like to take the doctor recomendation and go with a second band or would you like to graduate her. And I said 2nd band of course. SHe said I have to ask because it is your call we can only tell you what we advise. But I know it is the right thing for Mya to be in a second band although I do dread it! Only you can make the decision as to when you are satisfied with your childs head. But I would go and ask the orthotist what she thinks and about how long she thinks you have to go. That way if maybe she gives you an estimate you can say ok I can deal with such in such amount of weeks. Anyway good luck to you! Im glad to hear Grant has improved so much so quickly thats wonderful! Christi mom to MYA (DOC band #1 3/6/02 #2 8/15/02) > > I know I can find help here.
