Guest guest
Hi, I don't know if it will help any of you with babies that have reflux, but this what we did. Both of my boys, Caleb who is now 2 and Lucas 6 months have reflux. Caleb still has not outgrown his. I have it so it may just be heredity the Ped. says. Although what we did to keep the boys off meds as long as possible was to use Enfamil AR. It is a pre-thickened formula with rice and once it hits the stomach it turns to gel and very hard for them to spit/vomit back up. You prepare it just like any other formula expect you use COLD water. Caleb used it until 18 moths of age in order to avoid meds. We tried to take him off the formula at 12 moths but he was still having such a problem. Our ped. said it was not a problem to be on formula after a year as long as he was off of it by age two. He still has problems and takes Zantac. Mom to Caleb 2 and Lucas 6 months
Guest guest
- Did you know there is actually a group for babies with tort and reflux? It's not a very active group, but I was surprised to see that! My kids both got/get breastmilk. My daughter didn't gain much weight because of the reflux, so I just started her on cereal early (3.5 months). Dane never had any thriving isssues and had many allergies, so he had to wait for cereal until 6 months. That helped a ton with keeping everything down, so I can relate to the benefits of rice for fluxing babies! I guess I am lucky that they both outgrew it. I was expecting Dane to have it at least for a year since he started out with so much apnea from the reflux.
