Guest guest
Marci, Dr. Panchal was who I read about on the internet when I was trying to get info about treatment and his website came up. He was of course who I was hoping to get an appt with, but at least we have a starting point. Hopefully Dr. Parke will relize what she is seeing and be able to refer us on. I am hoping to get as much done in OK as we can next week. After you found out you needed a band how long did it take from saying that to the casting to getting the band? HOw many times did you have to go back for adjustments? Am I going to feel like I live in OKC? I guess if need be I can drive home as needed and maybe my parents can meet me halfway, so I dont drive 5-6 hours by myslef, with two babies. They live in Edmond now but are buliding near I-35, in far east/north east OKC. I think you must be a ca few years older then me. I graduted form Edmond in 91. Yes I am young, just turned 30 in Feb. Did I graduate form OU?? Hahaha I have to laugh, sorry. You could not have paid me to go there, partially because of my Dad and one of my older sisters had just graduated from there. She was heavily involved in the sority thing wtih Tri-delt. That was just not my thing, so I didn't go there. I went to OBU in ee but once I became a professional nanny I never went back. I did it for nine years. I wanted to be a mom and I loved kids so this was the enxt best thing. ALthough like any job/career it had its drawbacks. One family I worked for lost a baby with SIDS and so it had impact on me too. That is why I am so adament about SIDS and being aware. I loved being a nanny, it was the worlds greatest career, but being a mom is even better. Re: thanks for the nice welcome , here is our story Hi !I'm the one who posted the info about Dr. Fancel and Bill Barringer (orthotist). In OKC you will get a STARband and Bill Barringer is the only one who does them. He is associated with OU Health Science Center. So is Dr. Francel. I don't know the person you referred to, but I hope she knows something about the program that Dr. Fancel and Dr. Panchal work with. They are the two that see plagio and cranio babies. They are also with the University of Oklahoma. They have conducted extensive research on cranio and plagio so if you don't have any luck with Dr. Park (and I hope you do) then maybe you could get in to see one of them (Francel or Panchal). I'm sorry that your parents are not supportive. You are not worrying needlessly - plagio is a real condition and does require treatment of some form. There are medical complications that could arise if the plagio was left untreated and YOU are the one that has to live with the consequences - not your parents. They do not have to look at that child every day for the rest of their lives and regret not having done something when the chance was there. You are doing the right thing and it does not matter what they think. You CAN get help in OKC and I'm sure that you will. I'm sorry that help is not available closer to where you are. Please let me know if you need any additional information. By the way - did you go to OU? I graduated from OU in 1991 with a degree in music education.Sincerely,Marci (Mom to )OklahomaFor more plagio info
