Guest guest
Pete and the list. Ismael posted this link on one of the lists a while back and I think these little swivel USB connecters are worth the money. HP USB Swivel Extender can be found at CompUSA http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=51280300 & tabtype=rv ~ BioExplorer Users WARNING Please, please, please, please! If you are using BioExplorer, you know that without your dongle/hasp, the little red thing that plugs into the USB port and lights up, you CANNOT USE the program. That hardware key tells the computer that you have paid for the program. If you have been following the lists, you know that there is a steady, if small, stream of people who break their hasps, either by banging them into something or by inserting and removing them from tight USB ports too many times. Should be no big deal when this happens: you can't use the program for a 10-14 days while you send the hasp back to Cyberevolution with $50 for a new one--well, I guess that COULD be a big deal.Unfortunately, with Larry Janow's tendency over the past 6 months to be completely incommunicado for weeks or more at a time, the problem is much worse. Some people have simply been unable to get a new hasp at ANY cost of time and money. SO...If you are using the USB hasp, here is simple and cheap insurance: Get a USB extension (like the ones that come with Pendants and Pocket Neurobics units) or get a USB hub. Either of these are cheap and easy to find on the internet or Best Buy or your computer store. Plug your hasp into that and plug that into the USB port on your computer. That way you won't have to plug and unplug the hasp, saving wear and tear on it. That way, even if you forget to remove the hasp or drop the computer, the chances are you will not break the hasp. And, if you leave the hasp plugged into one of these things, it's harder to lose.Any other insurance policies any of you have come up with would be of interest.Pete Van Deusenhttp://www.brain-trainer.com16246 SW 92nd Ave, Miami, FL 33157305/251-0337 or (cellular) 305/321-1595
