A few years back my old boss brought back a bottle of Poteen for us to sample in

the

office, phewwwwwweeeeee, stripped my throat thats for sure and would put hairs

on your

chest!

However, with the benefit of hindsight I realise now I should have 'procured'

the bottle - as

I think it was left languishing in someone's desk as nobody wanted to take it

home with

them! Is it difficult to get hold of (even though its officially 'illegal', am

sure someone

must be producing it??)

Hi ,

I remember around Christmas time someone I know was given a bottle as

a gift. I sent the word out yesterday, I will wait and see. The stuff

is actually lethal to drink. I have heard a few mad stories about

poteen. There is one I will tell (not on the subject of perfume but

none the less it is worth the telling I think) My brother knew a few

lads who decided to pack the boot of a car with poteen and travel

around Ireland on an adventure. This was before the days when drinking

and driving was against the law!!! Well they started in Galway and

drove around for two weeks. There was three of them. The lad in the

back went very quiet after the first couple of days, but the others

carried on, pub to pub, supping poteen and selling the odd bottle here

and there. Anyway they arrived back in Galway and noticed that the

fellow in the back had not said a word for days. He didn't look to hot

either. They decided to take him into A & E. Well it turned out the poor

lad in the back had been dead for most of the trip, supped too much of

the hard stuff on the first night. The other two were so osified they

didn't even notice. That is a true story!!!

Anyway, Lets hope my quest for poteen is successful, will let you know

how I get on!!! I promise I won't be drinking any though.

Lynn,

Ya I know about this one, there is now a marketed form of poteen

available, but it is nowhere near as strong as the real thing, the one

mentioned above is about as strong as strong vodke, not suitable for

perfume making...illegal stuff is 99% alcohol...I have been corrected

here by someone in the know, I got proof mixed up with alcohol...thats

why the stuff is illegal!!!

So yes poteen is good for EOs and perfume etc

It is also used as an animal rub in rural areas.
