Pine resin

I got a chunk of stuff from a co-worker that he called pine resin (he thought

slash pine). It didn't smell very good but I thought I'd tincture it anyway.

It was a solid, non-sticky blob that broke up pretty easily. I just sniffed

the tincture and it smells just like ...... vomit, literally. Not sure that's

a useful scent ;)!

If I want to try blending with it, any suggestions?

What should I expect from a resin? I've asked a friend to get me some

longleaf pine resin for a South Carolina scent I'm thinking of.
