Guest guest
Hi Along with what has been mentioned, I mix equal parts tinctures of boldo, collinsonia, berberis and althea. I dose ½ tsp 3-4 times/day for acutes, bid for chronic. This along with a specific diet (there is a good one in Pritchard’s book), UNDAs 1, 20, 226 or 243 and COPs has worked every time. Even before I learned about UNDA I used the herbal formula with complete success. I would be cautious about dosing the EFAs at 1 tbsp at a time. That may be enough fat to cause the gallbladder to contract. Another thing that often works acutely is a cold vinegar pack right over the gallbladder. I don’t remember why the vinegar is used (does anyone?), but I have had patients do this, and it has helped. And I also tell them no heat with the COP until the acute pain has eased. Loreen Dawson, ND Sechelt, BC Family Medicine Cholelithiasis I have a 19 yo female who lives out of town and has a one year history of RUQ pain. The onset began almost one year ago, a few months after starting OC's. She had an ultrasound that showed the presence of small stones and sludge. Last night she called me with intense pain and ended up in the ER. Of course they gave her vicadin and the name of a surgeon for removal. Her blood work showed no signs of infection. She is a vegetarian and has been for a few years. Her diet is heavy on the carbohydrate side and has small amounts of vegetables. My treatment plan included: 800 IU vit. E daily, B12, folic acid daily, Unda 1,4,243,226, HMF intensive, super EFA liquid 1 TBS qd, Exercise 30 minutes 5 X week, COP daily, discuss options of a new contraceptive method, and modified anti-inflammatory diet specific for cholelithiasis. Does anyone have some advice on treatment recommendations or know of anything that helps in the presence of severe attacks while we are trying to help the body heal? I would appreciate any input you have. Thank You, Hageman, ND __________________________________________________
