BTW Anya, I stumbled upon one of your ?old website site. Your plants are just glorious. Green with envy. I see that you dont like the smell of the curry plant. Oh, I love it in curries. We used to grow them in our house in Malaysia where I grew up. I also bought a plant hoping to make it into an indoor (Zone 6A where I am) Also I posted a respond to Ruth re her crisis but it somehow it never got thru. Anyway, my suggestion was to put the chunk in the freezer briefly just to make it more manageable (as too long a period would I am sure damage the EOs) Then to cut it with a cheese wire/cutter. About the Thujone. I use quite abit of Sage for cooking.
