Did anyone see Deborah Norville Tonight two days ago on MSNBC?? She had a whole show on plastic surgery and had one women who had liquid silicone injected into her face in the seventies and had 45 surgeries to remove the migrating silicone. Her face was twitching very badly the whole time from permanent nerve damage. The women said several times that silicone SHOULD NOT BE USED IN BODIES but it was like no one was listening to her. No one responded to her comments on the safety of silicone. At least she was on the show and she was desperately trying to get the message about silicone out. The other younger lady had a breast augmentation and cheek and chin implants and they all thought that was great. WHEN ARE THE PROFESSIONALS GOING TO START GETTING HONEST ABOUT THIS???? I can't stand it anymore!!!!

I missed this one...it sounded like a show that I wish I had seen, but then again, I may have been really upset!

I was really glad to hear that they put the woman on who had silicone injections at least. That is so sad about what she has been through, but I have to give the show producers credit for even putting her on there. At least they had the guts to be able to admit that silicone does some damage.

But, like you, I wonder why they just can't put two and two together??? How can they possibly be all happy and excited for a young woman putting silicone in her body, even if it isn't injected? It still has the same potential for damage!

Plastic surgery is way too glorified in America! It's out of control! Where are the hearts and minds of people today???

Hi Patty!

I didn't see the whole show--just the beginning--missed the silicone part.

I can see being upset about the silicone and implants, but do you think all plastic surgery is bad? I sure hope not because I've had other surgeries besides the implant fiasco, but the others were positive experiences. I had nose surgery that has helped me breathe and look better, I had facial laser resurfacing that removed the second degree burn marks from sunburn (and I had regular sun damage too from sunbathing)and the results are so good, I never want to sunbathe again and I use sunscreen when I go out. I also had bleph so my eyes had less weight on the top of them--I had alway looked tired but no more. These other procedures had helped me in other ways and I would never put them in the same catagory with my implant disaster.

Implants were not for me--I knew it the moment I had awaken from the anesthesia. This was a colossal mistake that has left me disfigured, thank God, my ENT and current PS knew what they doing and are good doctors unlike the butcher who implanted/explanted me.

Hugs,
