yep - I defiantly agree w/ Pam - I did NOT have drains and had to have them "manually" drained post op w/ a huge needle twice and developed a nasty infection in my ribs afterwards. most likely the result of not having drains and all the mold and yucky crap from my implants. I would definitely go for them I I had another go around

love,

shari

This makes sense to me, although my idiot doctor didn't use them on my explant. I think it's standard to use them. I'd insist on drains. I had pss coming out of my sutures that took 6 months to close up.Pam <nannapam3103@...> wrote:

I think they're probably always needed. There's a lot of junk that needs to come out after the implants are out. I had them for only 2 days though. I hardly drained at all, so there was no point. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones! I know had them for something like 6 days, but that's out of the ordinary too. Pam> Is there any a time that drains are not needed after explantation?

My feeling on this is to get the drains, better safe than sorry.naturalbeauty38 <naturalbeauty38@...> wrote:

Every situation is different and there is nothing mandatory about drains. It has been my experience that the best/experienced surgeons tend to use them for at least a day or two. Many just go by how much your draining so they come out when the drainage is low enough. They really are not as bad as one migh think and the little holes they leave heal up and you cannot even see them later. I know they are hard for some to have them in but better than having that stuff building up in your breast and later on needed it aspirated by needle ouch! _CarrioeIn , "msnico80" wrote:> Is there any a time that drains are not needed after explantation?
