Guest guest
thanks for the tips. I think I may try some tomatoe in one of my juices today, and see what happens. I am starting the fast today (monday). I do eat yellow and orange peppers, they are my favorite. I am trying to psych myself out. I find that each time I do the fast, it seems more difficult. I don't really like going without food for 3 days, I get real hungry. hugs TERRY - In , Trish Trish <harvest2harvest@y...> wrote: > Those are all part of the nightshade family of vegetables, which also includes potatoes...some people have a hard time with those if they have rheumatic disease, so it is recommended that they don't eat them. Terry, if you don't react to it, I think it would be a great addition to a juice fast, as tomatoes are full of lycopene, a great antioxidant and as far as I know, they are not full of fructose. (Maybe I am wrong on that one, as tomatoes are technically a fruit? But they aren't as sweet as most fruits....I don't know about their fructose content.) I gave my Yeast Connection book to Daryl, so I can't look up what it says about tomatoes and candida. > > I myself do not eat nightshade plants very often, with the exception of tomatoes. I avoid potatoes like the plague, eat peppers rarely, but I don't seem to have any issues with tomatoes. And I do have an elevated rheumatoid factor. I think you just need to watch for a reaction. > > Good luck on the fast! I did okay yesterday until my husband and I took the kids to the movies-then I blew it.
