Guest guest
I watched a special on MTV about Stevie Nicks. The singer. I'm not sure if I spelled her name right, but she was given Klonopin while in re-hab for a cocaine addiction... She ended up addicted to it for 8 years! During this period, she gained alot of weight.. her hair turned silver and she said that she lost about 30% of the density. It took her another year or so to get off it. She said it was harder than the cocaine addiction to break. And she has lasting problems now as a result. The good news is...her recovered some and her weight was a bit more stable after getting rid of the Klonopin. My hair lost its color too during the four years I was on it. The doctor that prescribed it me told me hair loss could be a side effect..but, he told me that after the fact. When I was trying to get off of it. I know that Depakote, which is in the same class has this effect as too, and is published in the package insert. I have a cousin on it, and my son has a friend who takes it. It is commonly prescribed for mood disorders. They both are very toxic to the liver, requiring liver function tests to be taken anywhere from every six weeks to every three months depending on the dosage you are on. The liver is responsible for many metabolic functions, including metabolism of proteins and the conversion of hormones..so it would make sense.
