Guest guest
I saw a patient today who is 3 months post-op RNY. All his labs are WNL except for an elevated thiamine level. He is only taking one MVI daily which contains 3 mg of thiamine. Has any one seen this before??? Thanks for the help! ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
I have a patient coming in tomorrow with thiamine deficiency - I have micronutrition for WLS and it says additional 100 mg thiamine mononitrate 1-2x/day. I am not quite sure what this means (mononitrate form), which supplement brand name to recommend. Any suggestions? Theresa Gilbert WPAFB, Ohio [bariatricNutrition Dietitians] Bariatric Program Coordinatorand DietitianTo those of you who are functioning as both Bariatric ProgramCoordinator and Dietitian for your program...Would you mind if I emailed or contacted you directly regarding yourprogram processes(re: orientation, team meetings, nutrition visits, inpatient hospital stays, follow-up, etc.). I have been functioning asthe bariatric dietitian and am now taking on the role of the coordinator(as well as dietitian). Our program is exploding, and we are outgrowing our current processes. I'd like to get feedback on how otherRDs in this role are managing their patient volumes. Thank you inadvance. He had severe nausea 2 weeks post op now 6 weeks post-op with calf pain that goes up to his thigh and weakness (was unable to open a jar at one point). I advised him to take 200 mg thiamine in a B complex form, however, is this someone who should have a thiamine injection? Thanks for any input you might have . Have a great Thursday!
