I never made the connection before. Year's ago when I was running

marathons my favorite book was " Training the Lydiard Way "

Arthur Lydiard was a very successful coach of famous distance runners

from " OZ " and New Zealand. One of his " tricks " was to use honey

(straight out of the jar by the spoonful) to give his athletes quick

energy for their workouts. This was decades before GU and all the

other sports concoctions. Even those on the " Paleo " diet couldn't

object to honey. I might try some honey next time I burn out in the

middle of a workout.
