Hoping for some help from the dietitian that does LEAP or any other RD's

familiar with food sensitivities/allergies.

I have a patient that is now 1 year post bypass. She is experiencing shakiness,

butterfly feelings in stomach, sometimes headache and sweating; usually a couple

times per day, no trend as to time or relation to meal. She feels it is

blood sugar related and to some degree I believe it may be. However she has

found through careful food records and attention to this that she is very

sensitive to high fructose corn syrup and any time she has this it worsens her

symptoms. She is quite sensitive to bread and oats as well. She is lactose

intolerant and stopped all dairy. She has no history of diabetes, has never

actually tested glucose levels to verify if this is cause of symptoms. Her diet

is pretty well balanced, adequate protein/carbs etc. She reports that these

feelings happened all her life, she remembers having oatmeal for breakfast one

morning and then passing out at school, and thereafter when ever she had oatmeal

she would feel shaky and weird. She feels that some of her weight problem

before surgery was in part due to her eating more often to try to manage these

symptoms. I have recommended she begin testing glucose regularly with a home

meter and we discussed dietary guidelines for hypoglycemia but I am wondering if

she may have some food sensitivities/allergies that would cause this and how she

would go about meeting with someone that may be able to offer help?

She is very frustrated and at her wits end as to what to do, so any help would

be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
