When I follow up with patients postop, I very frequently

use " Limited adherence to nutrition-related recommendations " as a dx

statement and I use brief nutrition education as my intervention.

When I educate them for the first time regarding bariatric

nutrition, I use " Food and nutrition-related knowledge deficit " .

It's important to phrase your PES statement so that it addresses the

specific intervention you made. Even though it's obvious

that " obesity " is a valid diagnosis statement for bariatric

patients, I'm almost always providing eduation, so I use statements

that reflect that.
