Guest guest
Your stories made me tear up. What brave men. My grandfather and all his brothers went off to WWII, and all made it home amazingly. There is a action picture of one brother and his troup storming the beaches on the cover of LIFE, entitled " gun toting marines " . Another great-uncle was captured in Corregidor and survived the Bataan death march. His wife was killed during the capture of one of the islands. Before dying some time ago, he had insisted on being buried above ground. (He had been a prisoner in a coal mine for the rest of the war.) His treatment after the war was less than satisfactory in my opinion. He spent the rest of his life on and off waiting for admittance to veterans hospitals because of the damage to his body, and he received his metals through the mail. Ugh. love, Beth > > Dear friends, > > I know you will understand if I tell you about something that has NOTHING to do with saline breast implants! (He was in WWII, landing in LeHavre on D- Day +2) He called Rob s, our local Congressman, and it was arranged that the flag that flies over the US Capitol Bldg today will be in his honor. (It gives me goosebumps every time I think of it. I wish I could be there to take a picture...) The flag will be presented to my mother at a later date. > > Thanks for letting me share that with you. Please take a moment and say a prayer for those who are serving now, many of whom are in harm's way... > > This is the first year I have been able to smile on this date. > > Love, Eileen > > > > > Eileen Swanson > www.homestead.com/sosalines/sos.html > > > > > >
