Guest guest
Just curious if anyone has used bariatric food models or has any opinions on them and their usefulness. I found some online through NCES and am considering ordering for our office. They're about $65. Thanks for any input!
Guest guest
Thank you!! From: judispec <DIETRT@...>Subject: Re: Food models? Date: Tuesday, November 18, 2008, 2:33 PM I have been using the food models from NCES since I started teaching bariatric surgery nutrition 2 years ago...and my patients love them! They are incredibly effective for showing exactly what a typical meal will look like. I place them on a plate to simulate a real meal. Sometimes I had to cut a 1/2 cup food portion in half to make a 1/4 cup serving, since I bought separate foods instead of the kit, but I think the kit is a good value.Judi Spector, RDThe Bariatric Surgery CenterNew Jersey

Guest guest
I use them mostly pre-op. Pt's seem to like having the visual. It helps put the whole diet into perspective. >>> Lynn Atherton <sunnylizzy1024@...> 11/18/2008 2:26 pm >>> Just curious if anyone has used bariatric food models or has any opinions on them and their usefulness. Guest guest
I use them for almost all my consultations, but especially for pre-op group nutrition class. Since I purchased the food models years earlier, the portions are too large, so I have cut them to size. It's a real eye-opener for my patients. , RDLD Bariatrics Solutions Murray, KY From: Cheryl Deitsch <cdeitsch@...>Bariatric Group < >Sent: Wednesday, November 19, 2008 7:08:00 AMSubject: Re: Food models?
