Jeanne,

Have you heard of "New Chapter" vitamins/herbs, etc.? If so, what do you think? They claim their products are more absorbable to due being produced in natural substances with probiotics!! How do we combat this?

I have never heard of “New Chapterâ€vitamins/herbs, but, it sounds a lot like a company that was presented to usrecently that we are trying to combat.  The company is called “nutraMetrixAdvanced Nutraceuticalsâ€. They claim that they can do DNA testing thatidentifies vitamin/mineral deficiencies that a person has and give you amultivitamin preparation that EXACTLY fits  a patients requirements.  One ofour Bariatric RN’s is in love with this company and won’t leave us alone aboutbringing these products on board.  Most of their MVI’s have herbs in them thatI have never heard of and am not comfortable having our patients take.  Has anyone out there heard of this company? Any suggestions on how to let our staff know that this company is not good forour patients?  We are very frustrated and our nurse won’t listen to our sideeven though we are the experts!    Thanks, Missy Bizzarro RD, LD P.S.  Thanks for all the helpful advice on the non-surgical weight lossmanagement programs.  From: [mailto: ]On Behalf Of deblengrossmanSent: Tuesday, December 02, 200812:48 PM Subject: Re: New Directions Protein Supplements  Jeanne,Have you heard of " New Chapter " vitamins/herbs,etc.? We have also been approached by nutrimetrix and when they weren't successful with the RD's they went to our director. They of course could not provide us with any research or peer reviewed journal articles and that seemed to shut them down. Our director thank goodness deferred to us and did not pursue. , RD

I disagree, Nutrametrix has several published studies using OPC. In fact I know one of the researchers from Charlotte, NC from an independent clinical research lab from a respected research hospital. I know I am not really a part of this conversation but felt compelled to comment. Accelerated Antioxidant Bioavailabilty of OPC-3® Bioflavonoids Administered as Isotonic Solution.
