Guest guest
I have a question in regards to a patient who has just undergone gastric bypass. She was admitted one night prior to sx secondary to elevated serum calcium levels (12.5). Her PTH was tested and was WNL. According to her PCP her serum calcium levels have fluctated over the past 2 years. She was placed on iv fluids and retested prior to sx, where her levels were normal. Surgery went well. Before discharge her serum calcium level was normal, however her Vit D,25 Hydroxy was 23 and her ionized calcium was a bit low. Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on this patient. It would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
